Extraordinary Precision

As a sculptor, I am critical of details, and seek to provide top value for the collectors who buy my artwork. Tough-Cast 65D is an easy and durable solution for casting my final pieces with precision. The black cast reveals extraordinary detail and makes painting more efficient.

Just a little too soft

It's a tough resin for sure, you can whack a 1/4" thick sample with a hammer as hard as you like and it just bounces off. But the cured resin is a bit too soft to be useful for functional parts where you might otherwise use injection molded nylon. I think I should have gone with the 75D instead.

I tried mixing in some milled fiberglass in different ratios from 10% up to 50% to try to stiffen/harden it up, but it became too viscous to work with and cured as brittle as glass.

2 minutes

Instructions say 2 minutes working time. It's no joke. Only 2 minutes.
It's tough and machineabl. Nice Finnish. Tried to add photos, having issues.

"special" project...Hydrophone encapsulation

New to using resins...I have yet to get my project under way, but when I do, I will report back.
I chose the ToughCast 65D as an alternative to smoothcast 65D.

Btw, Customer Service at Specialty Resins is fantastic!
