In this video I demonstrate how to use Silicone Cast-A-Mold 25T with a thickening agent.
Split mold technique making a mold using platinum silicone rubber. This molding process can be used with Cast a Mold 25T and 30T as well.
Two part mold is easy when you identify the split line. When pouring the resin into the mold make sure air can escape as you fill in the void.
Polyurethane resin compared, is a quick look at the different line of products we carry. All of them are quick drying but with different characteristics. I recommend you watching this video for your next project. Full line of rigid casting in polyurethane click here. The more you know the less you waste.
Do it yourself resin art starts with quality epoxy resin. Bar top epoxy resin EPOX-IT 80 is a 1 to 1 ratio mix. This video is the basics on the process.
Wood chip in a frame with epoxy resin on top. Learn the process of pouring properly. Must see video, learn from my experiments.
Floating penny tray. Love the way the pennies float. Easy to to do as long as you watch my video. The process is simple to the point. Bar top epoxy resin EPOX-IT 80 . This video is the basics on the process.
Custom vape pen project is the process of turning a regular vape pen into a customizable vape pen. Like a phone cover. The cover has to allow the customizing process (called insert, see the previous video) This video will demonstrate how I did it.
Using 3D printed parts has its benefits when making a mold. Lets explore the process of making a 3D matrix mold. This process improves the quality of output and increases productivity.
Making straw topper can be tricky. Using a cup to make your mold means you have waste silicone in the process and can't control the height and circumference. This method uses the SPLIT mold but you control the distance between the walls and height of the silicone mold.
When you find cameo jewelry most of them are simulated with resin. YES, they are made out of resin. Learn how its done without using the traditional toxic antiquing process. This video shows you the easy and safe way to make and wear beautiful cameo pendants.
This video demonstrates the flexibility of adding 3M glass bubbles to specialty resin Model-Pro Slow polyurethane and get different consistency with foam and put just enough to change the viscosity. It's all up to you. For full foamy effect allow the 3M glass bubbles to saturate in the A or B resin. They will slightly expand also allow a better exothermic reaction without losing curing time.
Never throw away your redo silicone parts. This only works with new or barely used silicone. Dry old silicone is not recommended. DO NOT MIX the TIN silicone with PLATINUM silicone. Keep them separate, like kryptonite.(If you handle TIN silicone then touch Platinum liquid A or B ) you will contaminate the platinum silicone and the result is, it will not dry properly)
Before you make a mold make sure you determine the type silicone you are going to use. Platinum silicone has inhibition issues with certain type of material. Make sure you coat the surface with acrylic like Krylon spray. Or switch to TIN based silicone. You may not have to degas your silicone depending on your mold.
Cast-A-Mold 25T is a general purpose rtv silicone elastomer which exhibits excellent tear strength, long library life, and accurate detail reproduction. Cast-A-Mold 25T is a condensation cured silicone (tin catalyzed ) It is used to make rubber molds that can be used to cast polyurethanes, epoxy’s, polyester’s, cement, concrete, soap, wax, plaster, etc.. It is easy to mix and de-air, and will cure at room temperature over virtually any surface.
How much material do I need? L x W X H/CIPP = lbs. material needed. You can convert to grams by Multiplying the total lbs. by 500 = your NEW gram weight for total material needed to pour in to your box to make your mold. *CIPP is provided by your manufacturer.
Platinum silicone is the king of all silicone mold making products. This video will answer most questions. Why isn't my Platinum silicone not drying?
How to Paint on Casting resin Model Pro, Fabricast 50, Color Pro and Toughcast. If you rather brush on and use your choice of paint. Make sure you follow the steps up to the primer. Primer is sprayed on, goes on like paint dries matte. Allowing a barrier that can improve the paint adhesion and finish will look smoother. Let it dry overnight you can even sand the primer lightly of course. Then apply your choice of paint brush on or spray paint.
